The call for entries for the 10th edition of the COMEL Award, entitled ‘The Aluminium eXperience’, will be open until June the 21st, and while entries are pouring in, the organisation continues its activities and is proud to announce the names of the jury that will select this year’s 13 finalists.

The Aluminium eXperience’ is an important milestone for the Award, celebrating the tenth year of the international competition promoting the aesthetic and artistic use of aluminium. Ten editions in an upward trend: with artists from all over the European continent, who have shown many techniques, styles, stories, and ideas, and given great emotion and satisfaction.

The tenth-anniversary edition of the Prize could not but include a jury of great names from contemporary art. Historians, critics, curators, and archivists who have already been jurors for the COMEL Award, who know the competition and its peculiarities well, and who, with their experience, will come back to select the 13 finalists for this edition: works that will tell 13 ways of understanding Art and 13 very personal ways of working with aluminium.

As is now tradition, the jury president and artistic director of the award is Giorgio Agnisola, art critic and writer, professor emeritus of sacred art and cultural heritage at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy. He will be joined by some significant and prestigious returnees: Ada Patrizia Fiorillo, historian, art critic, journalist, and associate professor of History of Contemporary Art and Phenomenology of Contemporary Arts at the University of Ferrara, already juror in 2018; Marco Nocca, art historian, lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, member of the jury back in 2017; Claudia Palma, Director of the Bioiconographic Archive and Historical Funds of the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, a juror in the last edition 2022; Elena Pontiggia, art critic and historian, professor of contemporary art History at the Brera Academy and the Milan Polytechnic, as well as a member of the jury for the 2020-2021 edition; Marilena Vita, artist, performer, events curator and art critic, General Secretary Nuova Aica Italia, member of the Boards of AICA International, a juror in the 2022 edition; Maria Gabriella Mazzola representing COMEL Industrie promoter and sole sponsor of the Award.
