COMEL AWARD VANNA MIGLIORIN

Aluminium, the Silent Strength: The Exhibition

On the afternoon of Saturday, October 18, the exhibition “Aluminium, the Silent Strength” was inaugurated, marking the final event of the XII edition of the COMEL Award Vanna Migliorin Contemporary Art.

The public was finally able to admire the 13 finalist works, selected from nearly 250 participants, all of which interpreted this year’s theme with originality, sensitivity, and expressive strength.

In this edition, the true protagonist was aluminium sheet: cut, shaped, engraved, burned with acids, and molded into infinite forms and thicknesses. Most of the works chose to engage with this material, highlighting its ductility and silent strength. Alongside these, there were also works created with other techniques, such as aluminium casting or compositions made from recycled objects, testifying to the extraordinary versatility of this metal.

A material that, while appearing fragile and malleable, contains within itself an energy capable of crossing diverse fields and contexts—from aerospace to construction, from design to everyday life—revealing its surprising poetic force.

As emphasized during the inauguration by Prof. Giorgio Agnisola, jury president and artistic director of the event, aluminium becomes a medium to narrate the human condition: a material that allows emotions to be expressed, the surrounding world to be explored, and Beauty to be pursued, rising above the complexity of contemporary life. Also present at the opening were jurors Matilde Di Muro and Francesca Tuscano, who, together with the other members of the jury, will accompany this edition’s journey up to the proclamation of the winner.

By visiting the exhibition, the public can discover thirteen different artistic languages, thirteen visions and sensitivities that converse through a single element, in a true celebration of aluminium. The exhibition will remain open to the public until November 8, the day on which the jury will announce the winner of the XII edition of the COMEL Award.

Visitors themselves will also play a role: until November 2 they can vote for their three favorite works, thus contributing to the assignment of the Audience Award.

The exhibition is open daily from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm (closed on November 1). It is an opportunity to be captivated by the discreet and luminous strength of aluminium and by the talent of artists who, through this metal, transform matter into emotion.
