One of the most anticipated moments of this final edition of the COMEL Award has arrived: the announcement of the jury tasked with selecting the 13 finalists who will exhibit their works at Spazio COMEL Arte Contemporanea from October 17 to November 7, 2026, during the concluding exhibition “Future Intertwinings” .

Since its inception, the COMEL Award has involved leading figures from the art world: scholars, academics, art historians and critics, museum directors, artists, and journalists. Guided by Prof. Giorgio Agnisola, president of the jury and artistic director of the Award, the commission is called each year to identify—among hundreds of submissions from across Europe—the artists who best interpret the proposed theme and enhance the expressive potential of alluminium.

Alongside Prof. Agnisola—art critic, writer, and professor emeritus of Sacred Art and Cultural Heritage at the Theological Faculty of Southern Italy—and Maria Gabriella Mazzola, representing COMEL Industries, the company that promotes and solely supports the Award, the jury will include: Prof. Mariantonietta Picone Petrusa, writer, scholar, and professor emeritus of Contemporary Art History at the University Federico II of Naples; Ilia Tufano, artist, scholar, lecturer, and gallery owner; and Dr. Federico Romanelli Montarsolo, president and founder of the Montarsolo Association – AMITALIA.

It is no coincidence that the thirteenth and final edition of the COMEL Award is dedicated to the theme “Future Intertwinings”. A title born from the desire to consider every conclusion not as an ending, but as a transformation capable of opening new possibilities.

Alluminium—symbol of modernity and innovation—thus becomes a metaphor for a future built day by day through relationships, exchanges, and shared paths. “Future Intertwinings” invites artists to reflect on the opportunities that arise from the encounter between different experiences, languages, and visions.

Applications will remain open until July 21, 2026. Adult artists living or working in the European continent may participate with works of painting, sculpture, photography, or installation in which alluminium is the main material.
