BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
Giulia Facchin graduated in Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice under professor Gianpaolo Mazzoni, and furthered her studies at the Academy of Lisbon. In her research, embroidery plays a central role and becomes a tool for reflecting on craftsmanship, manual labour, reuse and the value of traditional tailoring techniques. Her use of recycled materials stems from the desire to bring ancient knowledge into the contemporary world and to recognise the beauty and potential of discarded objects. Waste thus becomes a symbol of memory and rebirth, and embroidery transforms into a language capable of connecting past and present, individual and community, exploring the boundary between artwork, utility and decoration.
