Call for entries for the 10th edition extended

New deadline 16th July 2023.

There is a new deadline for the closing of the call for entries for the 10th edition of the COMEL Award: entries can be submitted until 11.59 p.m. on Sunday 16 July.

Artists wishing to take part in the competition, which promotes the aesthetic use of aluminium, still have a few days to complete their works and send the necessary documentation to enter the selection of the 13 finalists. The selected works will participate in the final exhibition to be held at the end of October at the Spazio COMEL in Latina.

Entry to the call is free of charge. All artists over 18 years of age who live and work in the countries of the European continent may participate by submitting a work in which aluminium is the sole or main element. The winner has a cash prize of 3500 euros and the opportunity to be the protagonist of a personal exhibition at the Spazio CO.ME.L Contemporary art in Latina, with a dedicated catalogue. There will also be the winner of the Audience award, i.e. the work most voted by the visitors to the exhibition, whose author will exhibit their work in a personal exhibition also at Spazio COMEL in Latina.

An exceptional jury, made up of academic luminaries and contemporary critics, will examine the entries and select the 13 finalists: the jury president and artistic director of the award is Giorgio Agnisola, art critic and writer, professor emeritus of sacred art and cultural heritage at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Southern Italy. He will be joined by some significant and prestigious returnees: Ada Patrizia Fiorillo, historian, art critic, journalist, and associate professor of History of Contemporary Art and Phenomenology of Contemporary Arts at the University of Ferrara, already juror in 2018; Marco Nocca, art historian, lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, member of the jury back in 2017; Giulia Palma, Director of the Bioiconographic Archive and Historical Funds of the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, a juror in the last edition 2022; Elena Pontiggia, art critic and historian, professor of contemporary art History at the Brera Academy and the Milan Polytechnic, as well as a member of the jury for the 2020-2021 edition; Marilena Vita, artist, performer, events curator and art critic, General Secretary Nuova Aica Italia, member of the Boards of AICA International, a juror in the 2022 edition; Maria Gabriella Mazzola representing CO.ME.L. promoter and sole sponsor of the Award
