BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES

Born in Cagliari in 1980, Paola Maccioni lives and works in Vicenza. Since 2019 she has developed an artistic practice focused exclusively on aluminium, chosen as the sole material and language of her work. She has created her own manual process for working aluminium sheets, based on engraving, repoussé and chasing, transforming the surface through the artist’s gesture. Line, light and volume enter a dynamic relationship, and the two-dimensional sheet becomes a perceptive space of reliefs, tensions and luminous variations. Her research begins with essential structures—geometric or drawn from everyday life— which are reinterpreted until they acquire symbolic value. She investigates the relationship between order and change, memory and becoming.
