Artist with multiple interests, Mariangela Calabrese is a painter and a sculptor constantly moving. The essence of her activity is given by the continuous experimentation of languages: a path of contamination and projection, observation, and re-elaboration. As a matter of fact, since 1980, her artistic research is intended above all as an investigation and reflection on the artistic tradition going from the late 19th-century symbolism to the informal, up to the present day.
Painting, sculpture, artist’s books, installations, environmental works, relational performances are small stages of a journey that is based on her constant desire to communicate and the imperative, felt as one’s responsibility as an artist, to give meaning to each of his works.
